All the donated items and money was a personal contribution by the GFF boss. It came after a request was made by the Committee for the sponsorship of their league cup final scheduled for Sunday 16th February between Strikers and Sukuta New Town to be played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Speaking at the brief presentation, the GFF boss thanked the Committee for their hard work and dedication. He said the donated items could not have come at a better time than this. “Serrekunda Central is not as endowed as the other zones [within the Greater Banjul Area] and as such I find it important to intervene to assist in the work the Committee is doing,” Mr. Bajo said. He noted further that giving out help to Serrekunda Central at a time they are most in need as equal to helping football to grow. He also commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the development works currently ongoing at their Mini Stadium.
Other speakers at the ceremony include the President of the Bakau Sports Committee Ousman ‘Cho’ Drammeh who also thanked the President for his magnanimous gesture towards Central. He stressed further that the development strides undertaken by the leadership of President Bajo are bearing huge fruits because of his sound leadership credentials.
The President of Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association, Mustapha Jallow also felicitated President Bajo for his intervention in helping Serrekunda Central. He added that the items would go a long way to develop football and sports in general at Central.
The program was chaired by the General Secretary of the GFF Mr. Lamin Jassey who equally thanked the President of the Federation for the kind gesture. Though he noted that this was a personal gesture of the President, he, however, reassured them of the continuous collaboration of Football House.
