Ahead of the resumption of matches in the Afcon 2021 Qualifiers, the Gambia Football Federation is intensifying preparation towards the successful Scorpions campaign in the double legged fixture with Gabon (12th and 16th Nov, 2020).
Following the unveiling of the Scorpions provisional squad on Monday 26th October, Coach Tom Saintfiet has further disclosed that the 38 players selected would be further trimmed to a 23 man final squad for the double header against Gabon. “However, several other players from the provisional list would be put on standby to be called-up in case of emergencies“.
The GFF as part of the preparations will put up an advance team to Gabon to be on the ground for logistical arrangements prior to the team’s arrival in Libreville. The advance party according to the Team Manager Ousman (Cho ) Drammeh is a vital component of the preparations hence “arrangements in both Libreville and Franceville would be challenging and thus the need to have an advance team to level the ground prior to the arrival of the team“.
As part of the travel plans, Coach Tom Saintfiet and the players (European contingent) would fly from their respective destinations to transit to Paris and connect to Libreville on the 9th November 2020. However, the Officials from Banjul (Gambian contingent) would fly from Banjul/Dakar on 7th November 2020 to Libreville to join the European contingent.
The team upon arrival in Libreville would be accommodated in the city for a two nights stay from the 9th to 11th November 2020 and fly to Franceville on Wednesday ahead of the match day.
