The Gambia Football Federation new League Season 2019/2020 has officially kicked off with its traditional opener in Super Cup Finals for both male and female categories.
In the afternoon kick off on Sunday 1st December 2019 between Red Scorpions and Interior, the Jeshwang based outfit renewed their rivalry against the Police team to claim superiority over their former nemesis. Red Scorpions matched the day 2 nil to finish the final on a convincing win and pocketed D75,000:00 while Interior goes home with D50,000:00.
It’s interior’s fifth FF Cup Final winning four and losing the weekend final to Red Scorpions. Their previous wins were against GAF and Immigration.
In the Male segment, League Champions Brikama United lost to FF Winners one nil to also claim the 2019/20 Super Cup coveted trophy.
An early goal from defender Abdoulie Bah (Beck) in the opening five minutes became the only ball that touched the back of the net although Brikama made decent chances all went went wayward for Real to keep their cool and maintain possession.
Both sides resumed for the second period and it was for Brikama to show more urgency threatening The Whites but Goalkeeper Ebrima Jarju’s solid performance is always meant to defend their slender lead surviving by the skin of their teeth. The capital based side ended up winning the occasion to claim the season’s first Silverware with a D75,000:00 cash reward while Brikama goes home with D50,000:00.
