The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) wishes to inform its stakeholders and the general public that it has appealed against the decision of the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Disciplinary Committee to impose a USD100,000 fine on the Federation.
The fine followed the incident that led to the Gabonese National Football Team’s delayed departure from the Banjul International Airport after their refusal to comply with Gambia’s public health emergency rules in these devastating times of the Covid19 pandemic.
In this regard, the CAF Secretariat will submit our appeal to the continental football governing body’s Appeal Board in its next meeting scheduled on 8th February 2021 by teleconference, through a cloud-based video conferencing service, ZOOM.
In conclusion, the GFF further wishes to inform its stakeholders and the general public that Federation will be represented by a defense team in the said meeting to argue our case of innocence.
