The North Bank regional third division league has reached the halfway stage after the end of the first round. The second and decisive round of the season will get underway later in April.

Six matches were played across the different venues in the last match-day of the round with Star Academy ending the initial stage as the top team in Group A despite a goalless draw with rocked bottom Illiasa United.

Star has 11 points while Illiasa remained rooted to the base with just two points. Second and third place Region United and Rockland United also drew 1-1 in Farafenni. Region has 10 points, while Rockland is a point behind them on the table.

The final match day before the recess was another fiercely contested battle between Mauritani United and Farafenni United who shared the spoils at the latter’s Mini Stadium. Farafenni sits fourth on the table with eight points while Mauritani United is breathing right behind their noses in fifth position with seven points.

Meanwhile in Group B, Kunta Kinteh FC extended their lead to five points with a dominant 2-0 defeat of Joko United of Fass. Kunta Kinteh has 14 points from six matches while Joko dropped to third on nine points.
