The North Bank Regional Football Association (NBRFA) men’s third division league will enter a two-week break from Saturday when the first round would come to an end.
The twelve-team league is separated into two groups of six teams each based on regional geography and proximity to ease the burden of transportation on the clubs. At this halfway point in Group A, Star Academy sits top with 10 points, just a point ahead of second place Region United with Rockland United on eight points and Farafenni in fourth with seven points. Mauritania United is fifth on seven points while lliassa United is rooted to the base of the log with just a solitary point from five matches.
Meanwhile, Kunta Kinteh FC of Tubakolong leads the way in Group B also on 10 points, with Joko United a point behind while Essau is on seven points and Aljamdu on five. Barra United is fifth on four points and Jambar United at last on just two points. Kunteh Kinteh will host Essau at Tubakolong on Saturday with kickoff set for 5pm to bring the curtain down on the first round.
The second round will get underway two weeks from this coming weekend and at the end of the competitions, the two top ranked sides will face off in the championship playoff to determine the team to represent the region at the four-team provincial regional triangular for promotion to the second division.
