Morocco Extends Condolence To The GFF On The Loss Of Alh OB Conateh

Tributes and condolences from both within and outside following the passing on the former President of the then Gambia Football Association and Honorary Life President of the GFF Alh Ousman B Conateh continue to pour through Football House to the family of the late “Man of the People”. The latest message of condolence comes from the Federation Royale Marocaine De Football (FRMF) expressing their sadness and shock on the loss of a “Great Man in football family“.

Writing through the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo, FRMF saluted the work and accumulated football achievements of the late Alh OB Conateh. ” He will be remembered as a great man in the football family“.

Morocco and The Gambia are enjoying excellent football relationship established by the Kaba led Executive and recently renewed to bolster more cooperation in technical, administration and Competitions amongst others.

In these painful circumstances, on behalf of the President of The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the Executive Committee and the Football family, we ask you to accept our sincere condolences, which we would be grateful if you could convey to the family and loved ones of the deceased“, the release ends.

The Late Alh Ousman B Conateh 83 passed away on Saturday 4th April, 2020. He was former President of the then Gambia Football Association from 1993-2001 and was honored as Honorary Life President of the GFF until his passing over the weekend.

Outside of sports, Fisco was one of the most respected and towering figures in normal Gambian life. He was the Chairman of the Banjul Committee of Elders; member of the Executive Committee of the Banjul Muslim Elders; mentor and role model for many youths; initiator of self-help projects with social associations for community development. The Late OB was also a Sub Committee Member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF); former first vice president of the West African Football Union (WAFU) and honorary consul of the Republic of Cote d’ Ivoire in The Gambia.
