LRR Governor Extols GFF for Decentralisation Policy

The Governor of the Lower River Region (LRR) Fatou Touray has extoled the decision of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) to decentralise football in the country. She was speaking at GFF referees intermediate training course in Jarra Soma on Sunday.

The training is a follow up to the basic referee course that was earlier conducted in all the regions to enhance the capacity and knowledge of referees. The intermediary level is meant to reinforce their understanding of the scheme and laws of the game in order to enable them arbitrate matches without any hitches.

“I am very happy that the GFF has come here for this training because it will help us so much to be at par with the Greater Banjul Area,” she affirmed. Madam Touray said the process to decentralise football will go a long way to help the referees and coaches to be able to manage their teams and players. “If the training is not given attention, it will affect the performance of the teams because the referees and the players will not be able to perform well.”

She further thanked the GFF for trekking to her Region for the conduct of the program while assuring the football leadership of her readiness to support football development at all times.

The GFF team will be in Basse on Monday and Tuesday to complete the first phase before moving to the North Bank.
