Matches continue at the ongoing Beach Soccer tournament under the aegis of the GFF Beach Soccer Sub Committee. Wednesday’s rescheduled game saw the highest goal scoring contest between Gambia Fire and Rescue Services and Sere Kunda East Bi.
After either side netted in a Seven goal thriller while the sun steadily dawn into darkness, penalty shootouts decided the outright winner and it was GFRS that hailed over East Bi 2-1 to win the day.
This is the first Beach Soccer tournament organized by the GFF with Sixteen Teams grouped into Four Groups of Four teams. The aim of the tournament according to the Secretary General of the Committee is to first introduce the sport in the GFF programs while encouraging all to register and participate. Mafugie Jatta also noted that the tournament will be used to select a team for the country “because the President has plans to register the team in both continental and global tournaments because the talents are here“, he said.
Matches continue at the Palma Rima Hotel Sea Front with Fixtures scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
