Hawks FC Registers Second Win To Go Top In League One

Hawks Football Club are the new table toppers in GFF League Division One following their unbeaten streak at the start of the 2019/20 domestic Season. The Reds registered their second win of the season in Match Day Two on Sunday 15th December 2019 at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama when they inflicted pain on Gamtel two nil to
climb to the summit.
Gamtel’s Musa Camara saved a coupe of shoots in the first half as Hawks ran all through to find the back of the net while the Telecom boys also found it difficult to craft any chances around. Despite coming close before the break, neither side weren’t able to break the deadlock and thus continued until half time.

Hawks were shortly reduced to ten men after resumption from the break 52 minutes into play when Mass Njie was sent off for a second yellow for his unsporting behavior. The Red card seemingly was the good omen for the Reds as they took the lead four minutes later when Abdourahman Jobe lashed out a short chip close to the corner position finding Abdoulie Jallow at ease to fire into the roof of the net. Gamtel nearly responded with a deflected shot that came from a scramble by the Hawks penalty area from a defensive howler but cut out eventually for a throw in.
Hawks would not breathe out as they doubled their lead 67th minutes when Abdourahman Jobe athletically ran over meters away to set up neatly for his regular partner Abdoulie Jallow who cuts the ball back to new entrant Modou Cham to sweep home. Hawks lead  nil although Gamtel came close to pulling one back but Yaya Ndong’s effort hit the wood work.
Hawks held on to win two nil and climbed top of the table on Six points with a perfect start winning two match Fixtures out of two and not conceding a goal yet.  In the other corresponding match at the Banjul Mini Stadium on Sunday, Wallidan and GPA drew goal less. Real De Banjul, Brikama United, Waa Banjul, GAF, Wallidan, GAF and Tallinding United are now joint second on 4 points while Gamtel stays at 3 points followed by Elite United, Banjul United, Fortune FC and GPA all on a solitary point and B/K Milan and Marimoo occupies the bottom spots.
