GFF Secures Two 35-Seater Buses for Stakeholders

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), as promised, has delivered by completing the purchase and branding of two 35-seater new buses through the FIFA Forward 1 Project which are now ready for use by our stakeholders.

It could be recalled that at the mid-term review of the GFF held in December 2016 at the Independence Stadium, the Executive Committee informed stakeholders that the Federation will secure buses which will be used to ferry players to and from matches across the country. This is part of the process to decentralize the domestic national leagues so as for them to take a national character.

Approval was granted by the stakeholders who hailed it as a good initiative that will reduce cost from the GFF in financing clubs’ travelling. This was followed by GFF’s application to FIFA through the Forward Project for the acquisition of the two buses.

The primary objective is to improve the quality of transport of football clubs as well as project scheme for cost saving. It will amongst others have cost saving benefits, create a platform to interface with regional football stakeholders in one major national league countrywide, motivating participation and encouraging development in partnership with secondary stakeholders. It will further avoid renting vehicles for travel, facilitate teams to be able to undertake their transportation needs countrywide particularly over long trips. It will further reduce transportation cost and maximize national league teams’ annual budget, increase safety, reliability and cultivating a credible image.
