GFF President Commissions Again at AFCON 2019

Regarded and described by colleagues as a respected figure among the power brokers of African Football House in Cairo, Lamin Kaba Bajo the Gambia’s Sports Personality of the Year, will on Sunday commissioned his fourth match at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt between surprise packages Madagascar and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The last 16 tie will see the team nicknamed Barea (a species of Zebu that is depicted on the country’s coat of arms) and The Leopards at the Alexandria Stadium with kickoff set for at 4pm Gambian time. The referee for the match is Moroccan Nouriddine El Jaafari.

Mr. Bajo, the President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), is a member of the respectable CAF Organising Committee for the TOTAL Africa Cup of Nations and has earlier in the competition commissioned three matches, an average of one match per match day in the group stages. He is based in the city of Alexandria where he was also the commissioner for Madagascar’s shock 2-0 defeat of Nigeria, a result that saw the debutants went beyond all expectations to top their group.

This wouldn’t be the last match that he is expected to commission as the Football House boss has been scheduled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to remain in the Land of the Pharaohs for the entirety of the competition that will come to an end on Friday 7th July, 2019 with the finals at the Cairo International Stadium.
