The Gambia Football Federation has appointed Mr Alagi Badji as its new Head of Security effective 1st September, 2019.
Mr Badjie’s appointment follows the expiration of the contract of the former occupant Baboucarr Ceesay (MAYA) who had a significant number of years with Football House as its former HOS.
Badjie 60 was a former School Teacher, Sports Educator and Intelligence Officer (erstwhile NIA) with an outstanding detailed experience in Sports Security particularly football. Badjie started his career as primary school teacher with Action-Aid The Gambia in 1980 where he served the pioneers of rural school education for a decade before he switched over to government where he also had a significant sting until 2000.
He became Sports Coordinator for the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Upper River Region from 2000-2004. It was under his reigns that the famous 2001 National Youth Conference and Festival (NaYCONF ) was held in Basse still in the memories of stakeholders as one of the most successful Youth and Sports convergence.
Mr Badjie later served as an operative of the former National Intelligence Agency responsible for sports matters where he served for five years.
Given his ardent passion coupled with his experience in football and security matters, Badjie was chosen by the GFF Security Sub Committee as its Secretary General responsible for meeting agenda and minutes while amongst others also advising the Committee on matters of security concerns for the Federation at international matches and flagship Finals of the Federation.
All the above have earned Mr Badjie absolute confidence and trust by the Football leadership to have him as the perfect choice of GFF Head of Security.
Key among his responsibilities at Football House would be to take charge of all security matters at the Secretariat.
