The Third Vice President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Rtd. General Langtombong Tamba and the General Secretary Mr. Lamin M. Jassey yesterday inspired The Gambia women’s U-20 team ahead of their two-match series with visiting Liberian counterparts.
General Tamba first congratulated the girls for their call up to national duty and encouraged them to live up to expectations. He reiterated Football House leadership’s ardent desire to continue investing in women’s football. He said the GFF has placed women’s and grassroots football at its top agenda and thus is very serious with this particular matches.
“The GFF’s mission is to promote and develop women’s football and that is why the match is organised to expose the girls well,” he said, adding that women’s football is very powerful, and therefore advised the girls to maintain respect, discipline and good sportswoman ship.
General Tamba, who is responsible for youth and grassroots football development at the GFF, also used the occasion to promise the players of anything that is of vital importance to the progress of the team would be adequately provided for by Football House.
Earlier on, GFF General Secretary Mr. Jassey congratulated the girls for what he referred to as wearing the national colors. He said the GFF is very proud of the team although it is the first time that such a category team is created in women’s football to form as a feeder to the Senior National Team. “I encourage you all to keep up the momentum and keep the spirit of being together,” he concluded.
