Gambia Opens Wafu Account To Ghana, Tue 01/10/19

Matches continue in the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations 2019 in Thies, Senegal where the Gambia national home based team (CHAN) will take on familiar opponents Ghana on Tuesday 1st October, 2019 in Match Day Four of the 16 nations tournament.

The Gambia arrived in Senegal on Saturday afternoon and have been holding training ahead of their opener today.
Speaking from their hotel base in Mbour, delegation Head Gen Lang Tombong Tamba said the team is at good mood and  morals at camp are high. “I can tell you that the morals are high at camp here. The players know what is at stake and lies ahead of them”. He noted that the Gambian team is a dedicated side and there is every confidence built in them to make the country happy. “All we are looking forward to is for them to play in  the best of their abilities so that they can win the trophy and bring it home”, Tamba said.
The GFF number 3 who also doubles as overseer for Youth, grassroots and women’s football commended the high level of discipline and commitment manifested by the team at its inception during the period of local training back home and ahead of the tournament. “We will work extra hard for a positive result against Ghana because the team discipline, committed and they have self belief and confidence”.
The Gambia’s initial match date to Ghana was earlier scheduled to Saturday September 28th but has been moved further to Tuesday 1st October at 5pm in Thies by the Organizing Committee of the Wafu.
Gambian residents in Mbour, Thies, Kaolack and immediate environs are expected to trek to the Lat Dior Stadium in Thies to cheer up the Gambia national team in today’s Knock Out opener to Ghana.
