Five-Day Referees Training Ends in LRR

A five-day referees training course came organised by The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) came to a close in Soma in the Lower River Regional on Sunday.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the GFF’s Referees Manager Mr. Seedy Manneh said the training is one of the campaign promises of the Kaba Bajo led executive to build the capacities of referees throughout the country. He said his team is on a nationwide tour to train more referees at all the regions.

Dickory Jawo and John F. Mendy both of whom were instructors urged the participants to implement the knowledge gained on the field. The two also thanked the participants for their cooperation and understanding.

On his part, Mr. Lamin Fofana, deputising for the Governor of LRR said they are very proud to host the GFF delegation and said referees are very important in the game of football. He assured the GFF and football stakeholders that the Governor’s Office will always be ready to coolaborate in sports development in the area.

Mr. Ansuman Sanneh, President of the Lower River Regional Football Association thanked the course instructors and the GFF under the leadership of Lamin Kaba Bajo for the fpresignt. He further extoled the executive for keeping their promise of developing football in the country and one of which is to organise a referees’ development program. He said football cannot be played in the absence of referees.

Alagie Faye, head of delegation thanked the GFF Executive for the foresight and urged the participants to make good use of the opportunities created by the Federation’s leadership.

The twenty participants that took part in the course were all awarded certificates. The team will be in the Central River Region on Monday and Tuesday to conduct a similar training there.
