Second place Brikama United closed the gap on leaders The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) to three points following their 1-0 defeat of B.K. Milan at the Independence Stadium on Tuesday.
GAF had on Monday played a goalless draw with relegation threatened Tallinding United to open up a six point lead. However, Brikama took perfect advantage of the slip-up to move to 33 point. Real de Banjul will go into the Easter break behind the top two irrespective of what happened in their latest round of matches when they host defending champions Gamtel in the final match-day on Thursday as the teams head to a five-day break.
Elsewhere in the first division, The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) collected all three points against struggling Samger with a 1-0 win. The Ferry Boys have now accumulated 26 points from 20 games while Samger remains in the relegation zone with just 17 points from 20 matches.
The final game of the day took place at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama where hosts Fortune defeated Banjul United 1-0 to move to 25 points while Banjul United remains on 20 points, just 3 points above Samger.
Meanwhile, the final three matches of the week will be played tomorrow Thursday 18th April 2019 at various grounds. The rejuvenated Hawks will be looking for their fourth consecutive win when they take on bottom side PSV Wellingara in Banjul, while third place Real de Banjul will be taking on a Gamtel side fresh from beating an inform Wallidan at the Box Bar. Wallidan and Marimoo will both be hoping to get back to winning ways when the two sides take on each other at the Independence Stadium.
