Bakau Katchikally (B.K.) Milan set the early pace in the domestic first division after they defeated Gamtel 3-1 at the National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) in Yundum as week one action in the domestic first division came to an end on Sunday.
With the win, the Bakau side is top of the table with three points, the same number of points with Real de Banjul, Elite United, Fortune Football Club as well as The Gambia Armed Forces but the former led the way on the number of goals scored.
Of the seven matches played across the three venues over three days, a record 17 goals were scored with two matches ending in stalemates, whereas only two teams were able to keep clean sheets in Fortune and the Soldiers.
Real de Banjul got us underway on Friday when they host Tallinding United for the first ever competitive league match to be played at their new Live Your Dreams Academy football field in Basori. The match was watched by a decent crowd as the two sides entertained them to a scintillating performance.
Fortune was also 1-0 winners over Waa Banjul at the Independence Stadium while Elite United recorded a shock 2-1 win over Hawks in Basori and Gambia Armed Forces dominated Marimoo with a 2-0 win at the NTTC also on Saturday.
